A registered presence while you learn the market.

A representative office lets your overseas company be on the ground in Taiwan for liaison, sourcing and research, with far less administration than a subsidiary.

What a representative office can do

  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and partners on behalf of the parent company
  • Research the market and gather information
  • Support procurement, quality control and supplier visits
  • Sign contracts within the scope of those liaison activities, such as an office lease

What it cannot do

A representative office cannot sell, invoice customers in Taiwan or earn revenue. If you need to do business, you need a branch office or a company. Many clients start with a representative office and convert once the market case is proven; we plan for that from the beginning.

How registration works

We register the office with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, using your parent company’s documents, legalised for use in Taiwan, and the details of your designated representative. We then handle the tax registration and help with an office address and bank account.
